Increasingly, people around the world are denied safe, affordable, and adequate water for their basic human needs.

As we face heat waves, global warming, and other factors, we need to make sure that access to adequate safe water for human needs is protected.

I affirm that all people have a human right to water, and I stand with those who are working toward the realization of this right.

All people deserve to have safe, affordable, and adequate water for their basic human needs. No person should have to live without clean drinking water, the water needed to bathe, or water for sanitation.

It is morally unacceptable that marginalized people around the world have to struggle to access something as basic as clean, safe water.

Governments in particular have an ethical responsibility to stand with the most vulnerable people in society and to be courageous in advancing policies that protect basic human rights, including the human right to water, against powerful interests.

I stand in solidarity with activists, people of faith, and community leaders in California in asserting that water is a human right and in calling for safe, affordable, and adequate water for all people.
